On Wednesday 6th February, two groups of students from Carlton Bolling competed in the District Youth Speaks Competition at Woodhouse Grove School. This competition was organised and sponsored by Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, and chaired by Rotarian Mike Smith. Students were responsible for preparing and rehearsing speeches on a topic of their choice, to be presented in front of an audience from grammar schools across Bradford, and judged by a panel of professional public speakers. All competitors performed admirably in all aspects of the competition, with the most positive feedback resulting from their preparation and passion in the delivery of their content. Carlton Bolling won both the intermediate and senior competitions, with the award for most accomplished senior speaker going to James Gibson of Carlton Bolling, and the intermediate speaker award going to Will Morton from Bradford Grammar School. All six students from Carlton Bolling will be invited to represent Bradford at the next stage of the competition, taking place in Leeds on 7th March.
