Year 7 Trip to morrisons Head Quarters Tuesday 1st May 2018

A small selected group of Year 7 students visited the Morrisons Head Quarters to take part in a programming workshop.  Students were able to learn about how everyday technology is created using programming and were able to practice how to make simple programs.   Students also had the opportunity to see what career paths Programming could lead into and were really inspired by the young intern and his journey into programming and a career with Morrisons.    Students were really forthcoming with learning new skills and are really looking forward to their next visit where they will be able to create their own programs on the laptops.  ...

Youth Speaking Competition

·         On Monday 22nd January, three groups of Year 9 and 10 students competed in the Regional Youth Speaks Competition at Woodhouse Grove School. This competition was organised and sponsored by Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, and supported by the Carlton Bolling Interact Club. Students were responsible for preparing and rehearsing speeches on a topic of their choice, to be presented in front of an audience from grammar schools across Bradford, and judged by a panel of professional public speakers. Our students performed admirably in all aspects of the competition, with the most positive feedback resulting from their preparation and passion in the delivery of their content. Trip to Keasden Farm Malham (to plant trees)

Mr Calveley and Miss Marketa took a group of 15 students (8 Year 10 Prince’s Trust students and 7 New to English students) in a minibus to Keasden Farm in the Yorkshire Dales to plant trees as a part of the Green Guardians Project, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and aimed at young people.  The students learned how to plant trees by using the right tools and products and how long it takes for trees to grow into big mature trees.  They all learned of the importance of wearing appropriate clothing including walking boots and working gloves.  The students planted around 70 trees on the farm land and demonstrated a good team work.  The students also got...
