· On Monday 22nd January, three groups of Year 9 and 10 students competed in the Regional Youth Speaks Competition at Woodhouse Grove School. This competition was organised and sponsored by Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, and supported by the Carlton Bolling Interact Club. Students were responsible for preparing and rehearsing speeches on a topic of their choice, to be presented in front of an audience from grammar schools across Bradford, and judged by a panel of professional public speakers. Our students performed admirably in all aspects of the competition, with the most positive feedback resulting from their preparation and passion in the delivery of their content. Judges were especially impressed that Carlton Bolling was the only public school in attendance! Our two Intermediate teams came very close to winning, and our Senior team—consisting of James Gibson, Raees Khan and Hashim Sadiq—were the winners of their category, and will be invited to represent Bradford at the next stage of the competition, taking place in York on 2nd March.
