Mr Calveley and Miss Marketa took a group of 15 students (8 Year 10 Prince’s Trust students and 7 New to English students) in a minibus to Keasden Farm in the Yorkshire Dales to plant trees as a part of the Green Guardians Project, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and aimed at young people.
The students learned how to plant trees by using the right tools and products and how long it takes for trees to grow into big mature trees. They all learned of the importance of wearing appropriate clothing including walking boots and working gloves.
The students planted around 70 trees on the farm land and demonstrated a good team work. The students also got to see some farm animals. They all enjoyed the opportunity to spend time outdoors and in the Yorkshire Dales countryside.
